Twin Valley Riders, the sport-touring enthusiasts club of the Roanoke and New River Valleys of Southwest Virginia, is pleased to announce its first annual Twin Valley Rally! This will be a ride-in/camp-out on 17, 18 and 19th, of September 2010.

BBQ

Lexington Style BBQ - The Real Deal

The weekend kicks off Friday afternoon at Willville motorcycle campground in Meadows of Dan, Virginia. The rally fee is $35 per person and includes camping, a delicious pulled-pig BBQ dinner Friday night, catered by Two by Two BBQ. Saturday night dinner features Jimmy’s famous Willville stew. Hot coffee Saturday and Sunday mornings, served by authentic Twin Valley reprobates. We will have maps with suggested rides as well as guided tours for both road and dual-sport riders on Saturday. There will be a bunch of other niceties for a small additional fee such as breakfast biscuits, T-shirts, etc. We will build a nice camp fire both nights, and since we’re right on the Crooked Road, don’t be surprised if some banjos, guitars, mandolins and high lonesome voices find their way to Willville and gather round the fire this weekend.

Rider's Workshop

The Art of Riding Smoooth

Jim Ford of The Riders Workshop will be here, offering his course in advanced riding skills, The Art of Riding Smooth. Also Heather Ramirez, talented masseuse and owner of Flower Hill Therapeutic Massage LLC, will be here to soothe your tired, aching muscles after a day of draggin’ pegs, jumpin’ logs and crossing streams. It will be our pleasure to impart the aching muscles for her work on.

Register using the PayPal button at the top right of this page. One easy click reserves your place at the inaugural celebration of what is destined to become one of the legendary events of the Appalachians. One caveat––registration closes with the 100th person. Don’t intellectualize this more than one-point-two seconds because you know you want in, and we’d hate to see you miss out on such a fantastic weekend of riding, food, drink, entertainment and camaraderie. Attendance is by preregistration only due to limited and space, and the expectation that it will fill up quickly. Perusing the amazing reports and photos online with tears rolling down your cheeks is not living large… register now, no regrets.

Location – The Blue Ridge Escarpment

The Blue Ridge Escarpment - The orange dot is where the fun happens!

The Twin Valley Rally brings you to the heart of some of the best riding territory in the east… the Central Appalachians of Virginia, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, a few miles from North Carolina and about 80 miles from West Virginia. This is probably the best place that isn’t notoriously popular and named for a serpent! Suffice it to say, we know a few good roads and it will be our pleasure to show them off for you all weekend long! Route 16, Big Walker, Wolf Creek Turnpike, Little River, Potts Mountain, Route 40, Burkes Garden, [XYZ] Gap? These are a few of the well known roads, and we’ve got too many not so well known roads to even begin to list them. Willville Motorcycle Camp is positioned three-fourths of a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway, right atop the Blue Ridge Escarpment which drops as much as 2000 feet in five miles. To the northwest is the Valley and Ridge section where we cross at right angles to the mountains, move up the valley and do it again. A few miles farther is the rugged Appalachian Plateau where the mountains lose the directional layout and are so close together that everybody lives either above or below the road. It’s not possible to cover all of the wonderful roads in one weekend, but we can surely give you a taste that will ensure you’ll want to return year after year, if not pull up stakes and move!

If Sweetie needs extra enticement, suggest a tour and tasting at Chateau Morrisette. Since we'll be out that way for your wine tour Sweetie, there's something I'd like to do at Willville!
